Reading Together, Growing Together

The Reading Club Program at Hopes Library is designed to encourage children and youth to develop a strong and lasting connection with books. Through regular gatherings and guided reading sessions, the program creates an engaging environment where young readers can explore stories, share ideas, and strengthen their reading skills.
The program supports the mission of Hopes Library to promote literacy and make reading an enjoyable and meaningful part of everyday life for children and youth in Jerash Refugee Camp.

Creating a Culture of Reading

Access to books and reading spaces in the camp is limited, which makes initiatives like the Reading Club especially important. The program provides participants with a structured opportunity to read regularly and engage with books beyond their school curriculum.
By gathering young readers in a welcoming and supportive setting, the Reading Club helps nurture curiosity, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for knowledge.

During Reading Club sessions, participants take part in a variety of activities that make reading interactive and enjoyable, including:

  • Group reading sessions
  • Guided discussions about stories and ideas
  • Sharing reflections and opinions about books
  • Creative activities inspired by reading
  • Collaborative learning with peers

These activities help improve reading comprehension, communication skills, and confidence among participants.

The Reading Club encourages participants to express their thoughts, ask questions, and listen to different perspectives. This environment helps young readers feel comfortable sharing their ideas while developing critical thinking and communication skills.

Reading together also strengthens a sense of community among participants, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.
